Mutton pepper fry / Chettinadu Mutton Chukka varuval / மட்டன் சுக்கா வறுவல்

Mutton Sukka Varuval Or Mutton pepper fry is one of the most traditional dish in southern Tamil Nadu  .It is one of our Sunday meal served with some steamed rice .Off to the recipe now .

Mutton Pepper Fry Recipe
Mutton pepper fry / Chettinadu  Mutton Chukka varuval / மட்டன் சுக்கா வறுவல்


Ingredients:
Goat / Lamb - 500 gms , Chopped 
Red chilli - 12 nos
Onion - 200 gms
Salt - To Taste
Oil - 1 tbsp
Cumin and pepper powder -3 tsp ( Can be adjusted as per spice level )
Water - 1/2 cup

Method:

In a pressure cooker add the oil , after it is heated add the chopped onions and slit red chillies and cook till onion becomes soft


Add the  cut goat/Lamb pieces , cumin and pepper powder , and salt and mix .


Add some water and mix .


 Cover with the lid pressure cook it for 15 minutes or till the lamb pieces become tender and soft .


 If there is excess water , bring the contents to a boil and  allow the  excess water to evaporate . Cook till the oil separates out from the gravy .



Serve hot steamed rice and roti .
