Red snapper fish fry / sankara meen varuval

fish-Red snapper 2 nos, cut in slices
Curry powder/sambar powder- 2 tsp
Salt- As per taste


Take the cleaned fish or fillets in a bowl.Add sambar powder/ curry powder and salt,mix well.Coat the fish with masala well.
Leave it aside for an hour.
Heat oil in kadai,drop the fish pieces in oil and allow it to cook on both sides till it turns golden brown.
Serve hot.

Mutton potato curry | Mutton Recipes

My mom makes Mutton with a combo of Potato and Eggplants . Check out my Mutton eggplant curry here .
My kids love potatoes , so i don' t mind adding them here  . This curry was just awesome with nice flavours from the freshly ground spices . Check out my other Mutton recipes here .

Mutton Potato Curry
Mutton potato curry / Potato Goat curry / Lamb Potato Curry

  • Mutton - 250 gm ,cut in small pieces
  • Potato - 1 no big size, diced
  • Onion - 1 no , chopped
  • oil - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt -to taste
To Roast and  Grind:

  • Red chilli - 6 no
  • Coriander seeds - 3 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Pepper corns - 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup

In a small pan, add 2 drops of oil, add the whole red chilli,coriander seeds,cumin seeds,pepper corns and fry in oil for 3- 4 minutes.Now add the grated coconut to it and stir for 1 minute and allow it to cool.Grind the contents to a paste by adding little water.

Clean the Mutton and add the turmeric powder to it , mix well and set aside for 30minutes.In a pressure cooker add oil, and add the onions and cook till it becomes soft.Now add the Mutton to it, add salt and stir.

Add the ground  contents from the mixer to the pressure cooker ,add little water and check for consistency,it should not be too watery or too thick.Allow it to boil together till the raw smell goes away.

Now close the pressure cooker and cook till the mutton becomes soft.It takes around 15 mts for the mutton to become tender.Now open the pressure cooker and add the diced potato cubes and cover with the lid and cook for just one hisses Or it could be cooked in open pan till potato becomes soft .

Once it is cooked  the oil separates out from the curry and floats on top .

Serve hot with rice , roti, idly or dosa.
