PEANUT CHUTNEY | HOW TO MAKE PEANUT CHUTNEY | VERKADALAI CHUTNEY RECIPE

Peanut chutney is a quick chutney recipe , which pairs well with Idly and Dosa  Recipes . Peanut chutney can be made instantly and it calls for very few ingredients . So now off to Today's Post Peanut Chutney Recipe Or Verkadalai Chutney called in Tamil .

Peanut chutney-Ingredients

Preparation Time : 10 minutes | Recipe Category: Dips
Cooking Time : 10 minutes | Recipe Cuisine : Indian 
  • Peanut - 1/2 cup
  • Rosted channa dal ( Pottukadalai ) - 2 tablespoon
  • Coconut - 2 tablespoon
  • Red chilli - 2 numbers
  • Tamarind - a pinch
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Salt - To Taste

To Temper:

  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Urad dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - Few leaves

      Method :

      • Start by roasting the peanuts till they become a little crunchy .


      • Roast the Red chilli for few seconds .


      • Allow the contents to cool down . Transfer them to a blender . Add the garlic pods , salt , Tamarind and Rotsted channa dal ( Pottukadalai ) .


      • Add some Coconut ( I forgot to click that pic )

      • Blend the peanut chutney well with some water .


      • Add water and mix the peanut chutney to desired consistency .

      • To temper the peanut chutney , heat oil  add the mustard seeds and allow them to pop . Now add the urad dhal and fry till they become brown in color . Add the curry leaves . Transfer the tempered contents to the peanut chutney and mix well .


      • Yummy Peanut Chutney is ready to serve . Serve this peanut chutney with Idly and Dosa  recipes .

      ONION CHUTNEY RECIPE | CHUTNEY RECIPES

      Onion Chutney recipe is a quick and a simple chutney that goes well with Idli  and Dosa recipes .  This Chutney is made only with onions and few other spices .  So now off to today's Post Onion Chutney recipe .

      Ingredients:

      • Onions - 3 numbers , Sliced
      • Red Chillis - 6 numbers
      • Urad Dhal - 1 tablespoon
      • Garlic - 4 pods
      • Ginger - 2' inch piece , chopped
      • Tamarind - Small lemon size 
      • Salt - To taste 
      • Oil - 1 tea spoon

      Tempering:

      • Oil - 2  teaspoon
      • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon


      Method:

       Take a heavy bottom pan , add oil , Add the urad dhal , red chilli , xhopped ginger and garlic pods and fry for few seconds .


      Now add the chopped onions , and Tamarind . Cook till the onion become soft .


      Allow the contents to cool down . Transfer this to a blender . Add salt .


      Grind them to a paste by sprinkling little water . Now the last part is tempering . Heat oil in a pan , add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter . Transfer the ground paste from the mixer to the pan . 



      Cook till the oil separates from the chutney  . 


      Yummy Onion chutney is ready to serve .

      Serve this With Idly and Dosa recipes .

      Apple Jam Recipe | Apple Jelly - Step by step pictures

      This is my first attempt to make jam at home . We went for Apple picking last week and our fruit basket is loaded with Apples . My daughter suggested that we should make jam and so we landed in this recipe . This is a easy recipe and kids will love it for sure .Off to the recipe now .

      Apple jam made with only 3 ingredients . Easy and simple

      Ingredients:

      • Apples - 1 kg 
      • Sugar - 700 gram
      • Pectin - 11 gram
      • Water - 1  1/2 cup

          Method:

          Peel out the skin of the apples .


          Chop the apples . Add them in a heavy bottom pan


          Add  water and bring the contents to a boil .


          Once the apples are cooked mash them well using a masher .


          Now add the pectin and mix .


          Add sugar and mix well . Bring the contents to a boil .



           Once the mixture starts to get thick and gets settled . switch it off .


          Yummy apple jam is ready !


          Store it in an air tight container and use . Refrigerate it for a longer shelf life

          Note:
          • If the apples are too sweet Sugar level could be reduced as per the taste and requirement .
          • This jam could be made with out pectin too . Pectin is optional and could be skipped if needed .

          Channa Dal Chutney / Kadalai Parupu Chutney / Lentil Dip / கடலை பருப்பு சட்னி

          This Chutney is easy and could be made in 15 minutes . I ran out of the Roasted Channa dal ( Dalia ) in my home , so I substituted with the channa dal . I tried this for the first time and it came out really well . Off to the recipe

          Kadalai Paruppu Chutney Recipe
          Channa Dal Chutney / Kadalai Parupu Chutney / Lentil Dip / கடலை பருப்பு சட்னி


          Ingredients:
          • Cilantro Leaves - Handful , Cleaned and chopped
          • Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup 
          • Green Chilli - 1 no
          • Channa Dal - 1.5 tbsp
          • Salt - to taste
          • Curry leaf - 1 spring
          To Temper:

          • Oil - 1 tsp
          • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
          • Urad dal - 1 tsp
          • Curry leaf - 1 spring

          Method:

          Roast the channa dal in a griddle till brown or Toast it in Oven at 350 F for 8 to 10 minutes till brown . Set aside .
          In a mixer , add the cilantro leaf , grated coconut ,green chilli , salt and water and run it to a paste .



          Now add the Toasted channa dal to it .


          Grind it to a paste .


          Now the last part is tempering . Heat oil in a pan , add the mustard seeds and allow it to pop . Add the urad dal and let it fry till it become crunchy . Add the Curry leaf and turn off . Pour the tempered ingredients over the chutney .





          Serve hot with Idly and Dosa recipe .

          GREEN CHUTNEY RECIPE | CORIANDER CHUTNEY | KOTHAMALLI CHUTNEY ( CILANTRO )

          Green Chutney is one of my favorite chutney served best with  Idli  and Dosa Recipes . The Green chutney is made with Cilantro and coconut as the main ingredient . so now off To today's Post Green Chutney Recipe .

          Green Chutney Recipe
          GREEN CHUTNEY RECIPE |  CORIANDER CHUTNEY |  KOTHAMALLI CHUTNEY ( CILANTRO )

          Ingredients:

           Preparation Time : 15 minutes | Cooking Time : 15 minutes
          Recipe Category: Condiments | Recipe Cuisine: South Indian

          • Cilantro / Coriander leaves / Kothamalli - 1 bunch , Cleaned and chopped
          • Urad Dhal - 1 tablespoon
          • Green Chilli - 2 number
          • Garlic pods - 2 numbers
          • Tamarind pulp - a Very small piece .
          • Oil - 1 teaspoon
          • Grated Coconut - 1 tablespoon
          • Salt - to taste

          Tempering:


          • Oil - 1 tsp
          • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
          • Red Chilli - 1 number , split
          • Urad dhal - 1/2 teaspoon

          Method:


          Heat oil in a wok , add the urad dhal and fry till it turns golden brown in color . Now add the green chilli , garlic pods , tamarind pulp ,  and fry for few minutes .



          Now add the Cilantro leaves .


          Cook till the leaves become soft .  Turn off and allow the contents to cool a bit


          Transfer the contents to a mixer , add the grated coconuts, salt  and run in to a paste by adding little water .


          Add some oil in a pan , add the mustard seeds and allow it to pop , add the urad dhal and red chilli and fry them for few seconds.


          Transfer these contents to the pureed  coriander and serve . I like to a have a watery chuteney so i added some water . Green Chutney is ready to serve .

          Mint Tomato chutney / Pudhina Thakali chutney

          Mint Tomato Chutney
          Add Mint Tomato chutney / Pudhina Thakali chutney

          Ingredients:

          • Mint - 1 bunch , chopped
          • Oil - 1 tsp
          • Urad dhal - 2 tsp
          • Tomato - 1 no , chopped
          • Green chilli - 2 no
          • Ginger - 1' piece , chopped
          • Garlic - 2 pods
          • Tamarind - 1 lemon size

          Tempering:

          • Oil - 1 tsp
          • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
          • Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp

          Method:


          Heat oil , fry the urad dhal , green chilli , ginger , garlic pods .


          Add the chopped mint leaves , tomato , tamarind and cook till the leaf become soft and tomatoes become mushy


          Allow the contents to cool down, run in to paste by adding little water .
          In a shallow pan , heat oil , add the mustard seeds and allow it to pop, add the urad dhal and stir till it turns brown in colour . Add the ground contents and cook till it turns dark green in color .


          Serve hot with idly , dosa .

          Microwave Tomato Chutney / Tomato Dip / Thakali chutney



          Ingredients:


          Tomatoes - 3 no , Chopped
          Green chilli - 2 nos
          Garlic pods- 2 nos

          Oil - 4 tsp
          Urad dal - 3 tsp
          Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
          salt - to taste

          Procedure:

          Heat 1 tsp oil in a microwave bowl, add 2 tsp urad dal andmicrowave for 2 minutes.

          Add the tomatoes ,green chillies,  garlic pods cook for 5 minutes.
          Transfer these contents to a mixer ,  add salt  and run in to a paste by adding little water.




          Tempering:

          Heat the reaming oil in a microwave bowl, and add the mustard seeds and microwave for 2 minutes till the seeds crackle.Now add the urad dal and microwave for 1 minute.
          Transfer the contents from the mixer to the microwave bowl and microwave for 4 minutes.


          This is an excellent side dish for idly / dosa.

          Microwave Corriander Chutney / cilantro dip / Kothamalli Chutney

          Microwave Coriander Chutney / Cilantro dip / Kothamalli Chutney

          Ingredients:

          coriander leaves - 1 bunch,chopped
           lemon juice - 2 tsp
          Urad dhal - 2 tsp
          Green chills -2  nos
          Garlic pods - 2  pods
          oil -2  tsp
          Sal t - To taste

          Tempering:

          Gingely oil - 3 to 4 tsp ( As per requirement )
          Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
          Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
          Curry leaves (optional)
          Preparation:

          In a microwave safe bowl , add 2 tsp of oil, add urad dhal, and microvave for 1 minute.



          Now add the  garlic pods, green chillies , coriander leaves and little water and microwave for 4 minutes or cook till the leaves are soft.



          Transfer these contents to mixer and add salt and lemon juice , make it a fine paste by adding very little water.
          For tempering add gingely oil to the microvave safe bowl,Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter , add  the ground paste to oil and microwave for 2 minutes.
          Delicious Microwave  chutney is ready.This recipe goes well with Idly, dosai, roti and rice.

          Coconut Cahew Chutney / Coconut Cashew Dip / Mundari thengai chutney

           Coconut Cashew Chutney / Coconut Cashew Dip / Mundari thengai chutney

          Ingredients:

          For Grinding:

          Coconut - 1 Cup Grated
          Cashew - 15 nos
          Green Chilli - 2nos

           For Tempering:

          Oil - 1 tsp
          Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
          Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
          Curry leaf - 1 spring

          Recipe:

          In a Mixer add coconut, green chilli , salt, and  cashew and grind in to a smooth paste using little water.
          Heat oil in a small pan ,  add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter , add the urad dhal and stir fry for a minute.
          Add curry leaf and turn off the stove.
          Transfer this to the Ground coconut chutney and serve with idly, Bonda, Vadai , dosai
