TAWA PULAO RECIPE | HOW TO MAKE TAWA PULAO

Tawa pulao , as the name suggest is a pulao made on the tawa , with some left over rice and few veggies along with spice powders . Tawa pulao is a mumbai based street food . This tawa pulao a quick fix for a instant one pot meal , so now off to today's post Tawa Pulao recipe .

TAWA PULAO RECIPE | HOW TO MAKE TAWA PULAO


 Tawa Pulao - Ingredients:

Preparation Time :10 minutes  | Cooking Time : 15 minutes

  • Cooked Rice - 2 Cups ( Click here for the recipe )
  • Onion - 1 number , sliced
  • Tomato - 1 number , chopped
  • Mixed Vegetables - 1 cup , chopped ( I used Carrot + Bean + Boiled Potato )
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tablespoon ( Click here for the recipe )
  • Pav Baji Masala Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Oil - 2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon

    Method :

    • Heat oil in a tawa or Wok . Add the cumin seeds and allow them to crackle  .


    • Add the onions and fry till they become translucent .




    • Now add the Chopped Tomatoes and cook till they become mushy .


    • Add the chopped Vegetables ( Carrot , Beans ) followed by pav baji Masala powder , Turmeric powder,  salt and Red chilli powder .


    • Cook till the veggies are done . Now add the boiled potatoes and Mix .




    • Done ! Tawa Pualo is ready to be served .


    • Enjoy the Tawa pulao with some Raitha .

    Notes :

    The original recipe calls for the addition of Bell peppers , So add capsicum when making this pulao

    CELERY RICE RECIPE | HOW TO MAKE CELERY PULAO

    Celery is a low Calorie food . The stalks of celery are crunchy and can be served as a snack . This recipe Celery rice is a recipe made with celery , and few aromatic spices , and rice . This Celery has amazing health benefits and it is always advisable to include in our diet . So now off to today's post Celery Rice .

    Celery Rice Recipe - Ingredients :

    Preparation Time : 15 minutes | Recipe Category: Main Course
    Cooking Time : 15 minutes | Recipe Cuisine : Indian 
    • Celery - 1 cup , chopped
    • Oil - 1 tablespoon
    • Cinnamon stick - 1 stick
    • Cloves - 3 numbers
    • Basmathi Rice - 2 cups
    • Water - 3 cups
    • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
    • Salt - To taste 
    To Grind :
    • Ginger - 1' piece , chopped
    • Garlic - 3 pods
    • Mint leaves - 3 to 4 leaves
    • Fennel seeds - 1 teaspoon
    • Celery leaves - Few leaves , chopped
    • Green Chilli - 2 numbers

      Method :

      • Chop the Celery stalks , Remove the leaf from the stalk and set aside . I added few mint leaves along with the chopped celery stalks .


      • Grind together Celery leaves , Mint leaves , ginger , garlic , fennel seeds and green chills in a mixer . Set aside .


      • Heat Oil in a  heavy bottom shallow pan . Fry the cinnamon stick and cloves . Now add the chopped Celery stalks and few mint leaves and fry for 2 minutes . 


      • Add the ground contents from mixer to the pan . Fry till the raw smell goes away .


      • Add the Turmeric powder and salt .


      • Add 3 cups of water and bring the contents to a boil .


      • Add rice .


      • Cover with the lid and pressure cook the contents for one hisses . Open the lid and Mix them well .


      • Done ! Yummy Celery Rice Or Celery pulao is ready .


      • Celery  Rice or Celery Pulao is ready to serve . Enjoy the Celery rice or Celery pulao with Raitha .
       Notes:
      • Green Chilli could be added directly with the celery stalks instead of grinding .
      • Few  drops of lime juice could be added to the rice to give a tangy taste .

      ROTI NOODLES | TORTILLA NOODLES RECIPE | HOW TO MAKE CHAPATI NOODLES

      Roti , Chapati ( Tortilla ) Noodles is a simple quick stir fry dish made with some left over rotis or tortillas . This can be packed for kids lunch box as well . This Roti ( tortilla )  is very easy to make and could be made healthy with the addition of some colorful veggies .Leftover rotis , chapati or Tortilla can be turned in to a fresh dish .  So now off to today's post how to make roti or Tortilla Noddles .

      Roti ( Tortilla ) Noodles - Ingredients

      Preparation Time : 10 mins | Cooking Time : 15 mins
      Recipe Category: Snack | Recipe Cuisine: Indian
      • Leftover Rotis Or Torillas - 4 numbers ( click here for the recipe )
      • Bell Peppers - 1 number , chopped length wise ( Click here for the recipe ), I used frozen bell peppers
      • Carrots - 1 number , chopped lengthwise
      • Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon  ( Click here for the recipe )
      • Onion - 1 number , Chopped
      • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
      • Soya sauce - 1 tea spoon
      • Lemon juice -2 - 3 drops
      • Salt - to taste 
      • oil - 1 teaspoon

      Method :

      • Take the Tortillas or roti and chop them length wise . set aside .


      • Heat oil in a wok . Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away . Now add the onions and cook till they become translucent .


      • Add the colorful veggies , red chilli powder and saute them .The veggies should be crunchy . Do not over cook them .


      • Add the soy sauce .



      • Mix the contents well and add few drops of lemon juice . This gives a nice tangy taste .




      • Yummy Roti noodles are ready to serve ..

      Notes

      • Any veggies could be added to make this dish . 
      • Lemon juice is optional and could be replaced by one tomato which is sauteed along with the onions .

      Egg Fried Rice | How to make fried Rice - Step by Step pictures

      Fried Rice is one of the easiest one pot meal . I at least make this once  a week because my kids absolutely love this . Check out my Vegetable Fried rice Recipe by clicking here  and the ever famous Paneer Fried rice by clicking here .

      Ingredients:

      • cooked Basmathi rice or any raw rice - 2 1/2 cups ( Click here for the recipe )
      • Vegetables (carrot ) - 1/4 cup, chopped , Optional
      • Capsicum - 1 number , diced
      • Garlic - 6pods, crushed
      • spring onions - 1 bunch ,chopped
      • Oil - 2 tbsp
      • Soy sauce - 1 tsp
      • Green Chilli Sauce - 1 tbsp
      • Ajina motto - 1 tsp
      • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
      • salt - to taste
      • Red chilly - 4 numbers , slit .
      • Egg - 2 numbers 

        Method:

        Cook the rice and Set aside . Click here for the recipe .

        In a large sauce pan . Heat some oil , add the whole red chilli and saute till they become brown in color . Add the crushed garlic pods and fry till the raw smell goes away .


        Add the vegetables ( I used only Carrot ) and half of the chopped spring onions and stir fry them . Add salt ,Ajinamotto  and stir.


        Now crackle the egg and add pepper .


        Mix them well . Add the diced Capsicum and stir fry them .


        Now add the cooked Rice , add the soya sauce and green chilli sauce and mix all together .


        Keep stirring the rice so that all the contents are mixed well . Now finally add the remaining spring onions and  toss them together with the rice .



        Yummy Fried rice is ready to Serve .

        Notes : 

        • Adding the Vegetable to the fried rice is purely optional . I added carrots to this recipe to give a nice color .
        • Peas and Green beans may be added too .
        • The vegetables should not be over cooked . They should be crunchy .
        • More eggs could also be added .

        Chickpea Pilaf | Chickpea Biryani Recipe

        Chickpea is one of the most loved ingredient by our family . It is rich in protein . I usually make the ever famous Chole Masala with chick peas , then try to add chickpea with other Veggies to make some gravy . Today I made a simple rice pilaf with Chickpeas . Off to the recipe now .

        Chickpea Pilaf | Chickpea Biryani Recipe



        Ingredients:

        • Chickpea - 150 gm ,  ( Approx ){ I added 2 fistful of chick pea , soaked it overnight }
        • Basmathi Rice - 250 gms
        • Onion - 150 gms , Chopped
        • Tomato - 1 no , Diced
        • Ginger garlic paste - 50 gms
        • Green Chilli - 2 no , slit
        • Oil - 1 tbsp
        • Mint leaves - Few , Chopped ( I used Mint Powder - 2 tsp )
        • Star Aniseed - 1 no,
        • Cloves - 2 no
        • Cinnamon stick - 1 no
        • Bay leaf - 1 no
        • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
        • Salt - to taste
        • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp



        Method:

        Soak the chickpea overnight   . Set aside .


        Heat oil in the pressure cooker . Add the spices like cloves , cinnamon stick , bay leaf  and aniseed and fry . It gives a nice aroma . Throw in the onions and , mint powder  , green chilli and fry till they become translucent .

         

        Now add the tomatoes and cook they are soft .

         

        Add the ginger Garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away .



         Now add the soaked chickpea , chilli powder , turmeric powder , salt and mix .


        Now add the water ,   ( For 2 cups of basmathi rice , add 3 cups of water ) bring it to boil .


        Add the rice and pressure cook for only 1 hisses .


         Allow the pressure to cool down and open the cooker .



        Serve hot with Raitha .

          Macaroni vegetables Indian style / Pasta indian style

          Pasta Indian style


          Ingredients:

          Macaroni-1 cup
          Egg-1(optional)
          Vegetables-1/2 cup (Any vegetables chopped)
          Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
          Red chilli powder-1/4 tsp
          Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
          Salt- to taste
          Olive oil-3 tsp
          Onion-1 chopped
          Curry leaf-1 spring(optional)
          Crushed pepper-1/2 tsp


          Recpie:

          Boil macaroni with salt, 1 tsp cooking oil and required amount of water for 5-10 mts.Drain water and keep aside.

          In a frying pan,heat 2 tsp oil. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute, add chopped onions, and saute till light brown .Add curry leaves.
          Add the chopped vegetables and sprinkle little water and salt to it and mix well.Add the red chilli powder and garam masala powder and stir .Cover and cook for till the vegetables are cooked well.

          Break the egg and add it to the vegetables.Add the crushed pepper and stir

          Add the boiled macaroni to it and stir well.Turn off the heat.
          Serve hot.

          My kids just love this Indian version of pasta.

          Flavoured rice

          Flavored rice

          Ingredients:
          Basmathi rice-2 cups(soaked in water for 30 min)
          Ghee/Butter-2 tbsp
          Cloves-2
          Black cardamon-1
          Cumin seeds-1 tsp
          Pepper corns-1/2 tsp
          Cinnamon stick-2
          Onions- 1 chopped
          Green chilli-2 slit
          Chopped vegetables(carrot+Beans+Peas)-1 cup
          Salt-to taste
          Saffron-1 pinch

          Preparation:
          In a Pressure cooker add ghee/butter , Add cloves & Cinnamon and black cardamom, cumin seeds and pepper corns and stir.
          Now add the onions and green chilli and cook till onions becomes soft.
          Add the chopped vegetables ,salt and cook for 5 min.
          Add 4 cups of water and bring it to boil.
          Add the soaked basmathi rice and a pinch of saffron.
          Pressure cook in cooker for 2 whistles.
          Serve hot with raitha and pickle
