LEMON RASAM | LEMON SOUP | HOW TO MAKE LEMON RASAM

Lemon rasam is a tangy south Indian soup that pairs well with rice . Lemon rasam is made in a similar way as the Tamarind rasam . This is a very simple and a easy recipe made within 15 minutes . So now off to today's post Lemon rasam Recipe .

Lemon Rasam -Ingredients

Preparation Time :5 minutes  | Cooking Time : 10 minutes
Recipe Category:

  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoon , Concentrated 
  • Water
  • Salt - As per taste
To Grind:
  • Tomato - 1 number , chopped
  • Garlic  - 3 pods
  • Red chilli  - 1 number
  • Cumin seeds  - 1 teaspoon
  • pepper corns - 1/2  teaspoon
  • Cilantro Leaves  / Coriander leaf  - few 
  • Curry Leaves - 1 spring
Tempering:
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Methi seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chilli -1 number
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Method :

  • In a bowl mix the concentrated lemon juice and water .The water can be adjusted according to the sourness.
  • In a mixer , add garlic , red chili, cumin seeds, pepper corn , cilantro leaves , curry leaves   and tomato and make a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in kadai, add mustard,methi seeds, red chilli, and  allow it to crackle .After this add the ground paste from the mixer and allow it to cook till the raw smell goes away.

  • Now add the turmeric powder .


  • Now add the Lemon  juice to the kadai. Sprinkle some Cilantro leaves .


  •  Cook till the Lemon rasam becomes frothy on the surface .


  • Lemon rasam is done . Add some salt and mix well .

  • Enjoy the steaming Lemon rasam with some hot rice .
