Sesame Chicken Curry / Ellu kozhi kulambu

Sesame Chicken Curry /  Ellu kozhi kulambu

Ingredients:

  • Chicken - 450 gms , Cleaned & Skin out , chopped
  • Onion - 1 no , chopped
  • Tomato - 1 no , diced
  • Coconut - 1/2  cup , grated
  • Ginger - 1' piece , chopped
  • Garlic pods - 4 pods
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Pepper corns - 1 tsp
  • Whole red chilli - 6  nos
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2  tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tsp

Procedure:

How to Clean Chicken:

Take the washed chicken, Add 2 tsp of turmeric powder , mix well to the cut chicken.Set aside for 30 minutes .The turmeric powder removes the raw smell from the chicken and gives a good flavor and also it kills the germs.

Recipe:

In a pressure cooker, add a drop of oil , fry the red chilli, cumin seeds , pepper corns, fennel seeds , ginger , garlic and tomatoes , sesame seeds .Cook till the tomatoes are mushy. Add the grated coconut and stir . Set aside . Let it cool . Grind these contents to a paste by adding little water .

 

 In the pressure cooker , heat oil and add the chopped onion.Cook till the onions become translucent.



Now add the Cleaned chicken pieces and salt .


Transfer the contents from the mixer to pressure cooker add little water and bring it to boil  till the raw masala smell goes away.


Now close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles.Allow it to cool and open the pressure cooker.


Serve hot.


 This delicious chicken gravy goes well with steamed rice, parotta, roti , puri , dosa , idly.

  5. Delicious curry and thanks for sharing! Addition of sesame seeds to chicken curry is new to me. I add it to vegetable curries but never tried it with chicken. Will try it next time.

    1. Yes this curry is spicy , and medium hot . If u need it to be more spicy, add 2 or 3 Whole red chilli more when u grind it .
