Tamarind rasam is a tangy south Indian soup that pairs well with rice .Tamarind rasam is made in a similar way as the Lemon rasam . This is a
very simple and a easy recipe made within 15 minutes . So now off to

Tamarind Rasam -Ingredients

- Tamarind - 1 lemon size
- Water
- Salt - As per taste
- Tomato - 1 number , chopped
- Garlic - 3 pods
- Red chilli - 1 number
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- pepper corns - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cilantro Leaves / Coriander leaf - few
- Curry Leaves - 1 spring
Tempering:
- Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Methi seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red chilli -1 number
Preparation:
- Soak tamarind in water for 15 minutes and make tamarind juice extract from the pulp.The tamarind juice should not be too thick.It should be watery.
- In a mixer , add garlic , red chili, cumin seeds, pepper corn , cilantro leaves , curry leaves and tomato and make a fine paste.
- Heat oil in kadai, add mustard,methi seeds, red chilli, and allow it to crackle .After this add the ground paste from the mixer and allow it to cook till the raw smell goes away.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.Add salt.
- Serve hot with steamed rice and hot papads or have a bowl of this Tamarind soup piping hot ( My dad loves to have it this way ) . Nothing could beat this taste Yummy Rasam is ready .
