I usually buy lettuce to use it when i make sandwiches . We had some lettuce leaf left over at the refrigerator and I did not want to throw them out , so I thought of making this a combo with Lentils . I made this similar to Spinach Dal Recipe . Preparation:
In a pressure cooker add the washed Toor dal, Turmeric Powder ,chopped tomatoes, slit green chilli, , water and pressure cook it for 10 mts till the dal is cooked well.Add salt and mix well .
Transfer this to the cooked dal , add water to desired consistency and bring the contents to a boil .
Serve hot with steamed rice rice,and flat breads .

Ingredients:
Tempering:
- Toor dal - 1 cup
- Tomatoes-1 no , chopped
- Green chilli-2 nos
- Salt- to taste
- Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
Tempering:
- Oil- 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
- Red chili - 2 no
- Spinach -1/2 bunch chopped Or Frozen
- Onion - 1 no , chopped
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Romaine Leaf Lettuce - As needed , Chopped
