PUMPKIN CURRY | PUMPKIN DAL | PUMPKIN RECIPES |
Ingredients:
- Moong dal - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon
- Hing - 1 pinch
- Onions - 1 numbers , chopped
- Tomatoes - 1 number , chopped
- Yellow Pumpkin - chopped in cubes ( Few )
- Sambhar powder - 2 teaspoon
Tempering :
- Oil - 2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds -1 teaspoon
- Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
- Tamarind juice - 1 cup
- Cumin seeds-1/2 teaspoon
- Salt-to taste
Method:
In a pressure cooker, add the moong dal, onions ,tomatoes , Pumpkin, green chilli , Turmeric powder , Sambar powder , and water .Mix the contents .
Cover them with the lid and pressure cook for 2 hisses .The pumpkin will be cooked well with the dal . Mash them well .
In a heavy bottom pan , heat oil, add mustard seeds allow it to pop , add urad dal, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Add the tamarind juice and bring the contents to a boil . Add the salt .
Transfer the cooked dal and pumpkin to the boiling tamarind juice and mix well . Cook till the raw smell goes away .
Serve hot .
This curry goes well with Ven pongal , Idly and Dosa and Steamed rice .
