KOTHAVARANGAI PORIYAL | CLUSTER BEAN STIR FRY WITH COCONUT

Kothavarangai Poriyal is an easy dish made with cluster Bean ( Kothavarangai ) and stir fry using coconut .  Cluster Bean looks similar to the normal green Bean . This Stir Fry goes well with Steamed Rice , Sambar and Rasam Recipes . So now off to today;s post Kothavarangai Poriyal ( Cluster Bean Stir Fry ) .

KOTHAVARANGAI PORIYAL | CLUSTER BEAN STIR FRY WITH COCONUT


Ingredients:

  • Kothavarangai ( Cluster Bean ) - 250 Grams , Chopped
  • Onion - 1 number , Chopped
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustardseeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad Dhal - 1 teaspoon
  • Red Chillis - 2 numbers 
  • Salt - To taste 
To Grind :
  • Roasted Chana Dal ( Daliya / Udachakadalai ) - 1 tablespoon
  • Grated Coconut - 1 tablespoon

    Cluster Bean Stir Fry using Coconut
    Cluster Bean Fry Recipe

     Method :

    • Grind together the coconut and Roased Channa Dal . Set aside .

    • Heat oil in a kadai or Wok , add the mustard seeds and allow it to pop . Add the urad dhal and fry for few seconds . Throw the whole red chillies and saute them . Now add the onion and cook till it  .becomes translucent .  
    • Now add the Chopped Cluster bean and fry for few seconds . Add  little water , salt and cook till the bean become soft .

    • Once the bean is well cooked , Add the ground channa dal  and coconut powder and give a toss . Switch off the stove .


    • Done !


    • Yummy Kothavarangai Poriyal is ready to Serve .

    2. Never tried stir fries with the paste; made with coconut and dhal. I shall soon because it has brought out a wonderful dish. Also the cluster beans are available over here.
