HOW TO CLEAN AND CUT SNAKE GOURD ( PUDALANGAI )

Snake Gourd ( pudalangai ) is one healthy Vegetable that my mom makes atleast once a week when I was a child . After marriage , I rarely buy this vegetable because of its cleaning process which takes a bit of time , but its worth the heath benefits the vegetable has . Today's post is a tutorial on how to Clean and cut Snake gourd .

Preparation Time: 15 minutes     

    Ingredients :

    • Snake gourd - 2 numbers

      Method:

      • Take the snake gourd and cut them in to halves  .


      • Peel them .


      • Slice them in the middle .


      • Remove the seeds using a spoon ( My daughter Nishita  did this for me )


      Chop them in to small pieces

      ALOO TIKKI RECIPE | POTATO RECIPES | LOW FAT RECIPES

      Aloo Tikki  is an Indian snack made with mashed  Potatoes and few other spices added to it to give aromatic flavors . Kids will love this recipe . So now off to today's post Aloo Tikki Recipe .

      ALOO TIKKI RECIPE | LOW FAT RECIPES


      Ingredients:

      • Potato - 3 Numbers , Skin peeled and Diced  halves
      • Carrot - 1 number
      • Red Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
      • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tea spoon
      • Ginger Garlic Paste -  1 tea spoon ( Click here  to view the recipe )
      • Salt - To taste
      • Water - As needed 
      • Oil - 1 tea spoon

        ALOO TIKKI RECIPE | POTATO RECIPES | LOW FAT RECIPES

        Method :

        • Take a pressure cooker add the potatoes , carrot , Red chilli powder , salt and sprinkle very little water . Cover with the lid and pressure cook for 2 hisses .


        • Allow the pressure to cool down completely . Transfer the contents to pan . Add the ginger garlic paste , Garam Masala powder and Mash them .


        • Make small ball from the mixture and tap them between your palm in to a patty .


        • Heat a griddle  , add oil . Transfer the patties to the griddle and cook them in a medium flame  till they turn golden brown color .


        • Flip to the other side and cook till they become brown in color .

        • Done !


        • Serve this with some Ketchup . Yummy Aloo Tikki is ready to serve .

        Notes :

        If the consistency to make the patties are very loose add a tablespoon of flour of your choice and mix them  with the potatoes to make the patties .

        CHILI PEPPERS CURRY | CURRY RECIPES

        I had a packet of the HABANERO peppers in my refrigerator and i want to make a curry using these peppers . I made a simple South Indian Curry using those peppers which could be served with Steamed rice . Off to today's post Chili peppers Curry .

        CHILI PEPPERS CURRY | CURRY RECIPES


        Ingredients:

        • Habanero peppers - 200 Grams , Chopped
        • Onion - 1 number , Chopped
        • Tomato - 1 number , Chopped
        • Curry powder - 1 tablespoon ( Click here for the recipe )
        • Oil - 1 tea spoon
        • Mustard Seeds - 1 tea spoon
        • Methi Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
        • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon 
        •  Salt - To taste 
        • Tamarind juice - 1/2 Cup

          Method:

          • Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan . Add the mustard seed and allow it to pop . Now add the methi seeds and fry for few seconds . Add the onion and cook till they become soft . Now add the tomatoes and cook till they become mushy .


          • Now add the chopped peppers , Turmeric powder , Curry powder , salt and mix .( If  you don't have curry powder Red chilli powder and coriander powder could be used in the ratio 1: 1 ie 1/2 tablespoon Red chilli powder and 1/2 tablespoon of coriander powder .)


          • Add the tamarind juice and bring the content to a boil .


          • Cook till the oil separates out from the curry .

          BUTTER PANEER MASALA | PANEER RECIPES

          Paneer is an all time favorite food for my kids . I like to cook paneer in different ways , one of the most delicious way of preparing paneer is making this rich Butter Paneer Masala . This is a simple recipe that could be made in 30 minutes . Off to today's post Butter Paneer Masala .

            Ingredients :


            • Paneer - 250 grams , Cubed ( Click here for the recipe )
            • Onions - 2 numbers ,Sliced
            • Tomato -  2 numbers , Pureed
            • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tablespoon ( Click here for the recipe )
            • Red Chilli Powder - 1 tea spoon
            • Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon
            • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tea spoon
            • Cashew Nut paste - 1 tablespoon
            • Fresh cream - 1/4 cup ( Click here for the recipe )
            • Dried Fenugreek leaf - 1 teaspoon
            • Salt - To taste
            • Butter - 2 tablespoon


              Butter Paneer Masala Recipe

              Method: 

              • Fry the  Paneer Cubes in Oil and set aside  ( This step is purely optional )
              • Melt butter in a heavy bottom pan . Add the sliced onions and fry till they become translucent .

              • Add the tomato puree and fry till the raw smell goes away .


              • Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away .
              •  Add the red chilli powder , coriander powder , garam masala powder , cashew paste ,salt and mix  .


              • Cook till the butter seperates from the masala .


              •  Now add some water and bring the contents to a boil . Add the paneer cubes and cook for few minutes . Now add the fresh cream and dried fenugreek leaves and mix .


              • Cook till the butter separates out from the masala .

              HOW TO COOK SOYA CHUNKS | SOYA CHUNKS RECIPES

              My daughter Akshita loves the Crispy fry made with Soya Chunks .I try to include this in our diet frequently now a days. I Cook the soya chunks and store it in my freezer and use them as required . Today's post is a basic post on How to cook Soya chunks . So now off to Today's tutorial on how to cook soy chunks .

              Ingredients:

              • Soya Chunks - As required
              • Water - As needed

              How to Cook Soya chunks

               

              Method :

              Bring some water to boil in a heavy bottom Pan .


              Add the Soya Chunks to the boiling water .


              Cook for 5 to 10 minutes in boiling water .


              Filter the Soya chunks .


              Take a soya chunks and squeeze out the water in the chunks in your palm.



              Chop them . Done . The Soya chunks are cooked and are ready to be freezed .


              Allow the contents to Cool down Completely . Transfer them to a zip-lock bag and freeze them . Use as desired in the recipes .

              MELTING MOMENTS COOKIES | EASY COOKIES RECIPES

              Welcome 2014 . Another year 2013 has come to an end . Wishing all the readers of followfoodiee "A very Happy and a prosperous New year " . Coming to Today's post " Melting moments " is my favorite cookie that my mom used to bake when I was a kid . I never missed to taste this recipe when I was in India during the summer that my mom baked for me . So off to today's recipe Melting moments  made by my mom and clicked by me .

              Melting moment cookies Recipe
              MELTING MOMENTS COOKIES | EASY COOKIES RECIPES


              Ingredients:

              • Maida ( All purpose flour ) - 140 grams
              • Sugar - 85 gram , powdered
              • Dalda - 110 grams , Keep at room temperature. ( Butter or Margarine could be used ) ,
              • Egg - 1/2 number
              • Baking powder - 1/2 tea spoon
              • Vanilla Essence - 3 - 4 drops
              • Corn flakes - Few , Crushed

                So now off to today's post Melting moment Cookies Recipe .

                Method :

                • In a mixing bowl add the Dalda ( Butter ) and Powdered Sugar .

                • Whisk it well until fluffy .  Use electric beater if you have it or whisk using hand .
                • Add half egg , few vanilla essence drops and continue to whisk .

                • Add the all purpose flour , Baking powder  and continue to whisk .

                • Knead the contents to a soft dough .

                •  Take the crushed Corn flakes in a plate . ( I used choco Corn Flakes )

                • Wet your fingers in water and make a small ball from the dough and roll it on the crushed corn flakes so that the cornflakes sticks on the dough .

                •  Done ! Similarly finish the dough making balls and rolling in the flakes

                •  Bake the balls in Oven  at 350F for 20 - 25 minutes . 

                •  Yummy Melting moments Cookies are ready to serve .  Allow them to cool down completely and store in an airtight box . 

                Notes: 

                • Dalda Could be substituted with Butter or Margarine
                • Before making balls from the dough . It is very important to wet your fingers before making balls , because the moisture in the dough balls will allow the cornflakes to stick .
