KARA KULAMBU ( KUZHAMBU ) RECIPE | கார குழம்பு

Kara Kulambu Recipe - South Indian Curry Recipe made with Veggies cooked in Authentic gravy made with coconut and Tamarind Juice and spiced flavours .  Kara Kulamu Comes once a week in our Menu . This Kara Kulambu can be made with the Veggies of your Choice , I tried Kara Kulambu with Brinjal and Drumsticks . So now off to Today's Post Kara Kulambu Recipe .

KARA KULAMBU ( KUZHAMBU ) RECIPE
KARA KULAMBU ( KUZHAMBU ) RECIPE


Preparation Time : 10 minutes | Cooking Time : 20 minutes | Recipe Category: Curry | Recipe Cuisine: South Indian

Ingredients:

  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cuminseeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 number , Chopped
  • Tomato - 1 number , Chopped
  • Curry powder - 1 tablespoon ( Click here for the recipe )
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Any Vegetables - Chopped ( I used Brinjal and Drumsticks ) 
  • Tamarind juice - 1/2 Cup juice Extracted from Tamarind pulp .
  • Salt - To Taste
 To Grind : 
  • Grated Coconut - 1/4 Cup
  • Onion - 1 /2 onion , Diced
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 teaspoon

 Method : 

 Take the grated Coconut , Onion and fennel seeds in a blender . Grind in to a paste by adding little water . Set aside . 


Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan ,add the mustard seeds and allow it to crackle , Now add the Cumin seeds and fry . Add the onion , tomatoes and cook till they become soft . Add the Turmeric powder  , salt and Curry powder . .( If  you don't have curry powder Red chilli powder and coriander powder could be used in the ratio 1: 1 ie 1/2 tablespoon Red chilli powder and 1/2 tablespoon of coriander powder .)


Now throw the Veggies that you are using . Mix them


Add the ground contents from the mixer  . Mix well .


Add the Tamarind juice and bring the contents to a boil . 


Cook till the oil seperates out from the curry . 


Kara Kulambu is ready to serve !. Serve hot with Steamed Rice  and a  Vegetable of your choice . Click here to find a sides that goes with the curry .

GARLIC BREAD ROLLS RECIPE | EGGLESS BAKING

Garlic Bread Rolls Recipe is my favorite recipe that I wanted to try for a very long time . This is a  simple recipe that could be made easily . We had these Garlic Bread rolls on a Snowy cold evening along with Almonds Chai . So now of to today's post Garlic Bread rolls with step by step pictures .

Garlic Bread Rolls Recipe

Preparation Time : 15 minutes  | Resting Time : 45 minutes | Cooking Time : 30 minutes  | Recipe Category: Snacks| Serves : 4

Ingredients:

To Make the Dough :

  • All Purpose Flour  : 1 1/2 cup
  • Yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - To taste
  • Oil - 1 tea spoon
  • Water - As needed 

To make the Spread :
  • Spreadable Butter - 2 tablespoon
  • Minced Garlic - 1tablespoon
  • Salt - To taste

    Method :

    Take 1/4 cup Luke warm water in a mixing bowl . Add the sugar and yeast . Set aside for 10 minutes . The contents get frothy .


    Mix together the Butter and Minced garlic . Set aside .



    Take the All purpose flour in a mixing bowl . Add salt and mix .


    Make a dent in the middle and add the yeast water .


    Add the water if needed and knead it to a soft dough . Apply some oil on the dough and set aside for 45 minutes to 1 hour in a warm place .


    After 45 minutes the dough will be risen .


    Punch it down . Separate the dough in to two parts . Take one part of the dough and roll it on to a dusted flour area so that the dough does not stick to the surface . Roll it using a rolling pin to a rectangular shape .


    Spread the Garlic Butter on the dough  .


    Start Rolling from one side .


    Cut them in to small pieces .


    Arrange them on a Baking tray and set aside for another 30 minutes .


    After 30 minutes the garlic bread rolls will be risen .


    Bake the Garlic Bread rolls at 375F for 30 - 35 minutes . Allow them to Cool down and then Serve the Garlic Bread Rolls .


    Garlic Bread Rolls are ready to be served . My Kids absolutely loves these rolls .

    KASOORI METHI LEAVES POWDER | FENUGREEK LEAVES POWDER

    I had a bunch of Kasoori Methi ( Fenugreek Leaf )  leaves leftover in my refrigerator . I made some Homemade Kashthoori Methi Leaves powder with the leaves . The Kasoori Methi Powder is added to the Indian subzi or Side dishes . These Kasoori Methi leaves gives a unique flavor to the dishes . So now off to today's post Kasoori Methi Leaves Powder  .

    Preparation Time : 4 days   Recipe Category: Cooking essentials
    Recipe Cuisine: Indian

     Ingredients:

    Fresh Kasoori Methi ( Fenugreek )  Leaves - 1 bunch , Cleaned and Chopped .

      Method :

      • Take the bunch of the Kasoori Methi leaves and separate the leaves from the stem . Chop them . Wash the leaves in water to remove the sand from the leaves .



      • Set aside and allow them to dry . 


      • Take a wide plate or a tray and spread the Kasoori Methi leaves on it . Set aside for two days  and make them to get dried in room temperate .


      • Toss them occasionally .  At the end of  second day the Kasoori Methi  leaves will look like this .


      • Set aside for two more days till the leaves become crisp and dried completely . This below picture was taken at the end of the fourth day .


      • Transfer the contents to a blender  or  (store the leaves as it is in an airtight box . Crush them with hand and use them ) , but I powdered them in a blender and stored .


      • Crush them  to a powder . Store the kasoori methi  leaves powder in an airtight box and use them in your favorite dishes .


      • Kasoori Methi Leaf Powder is ready to be stored and Used .
      Notes :

      • The Kasoori Methi leaves could also be dried in direct sunlight . ( I dried them indoor Only )  
      • The Kassori Methi Leaves could also be dried in Microwave till they turn crisp and dry and then they could be powdered and stored .

      BLUEBERRY PANCAKES | EASY PANCAKES RECIPES | BLUEBERRY RECIPES

      I always wanted to try this pancakes for a long time . Luckily I found a few blueberries in farmers market last week . I saved few of them to make this beautiful pancakes . I must say that they turned out very well . My kids absolutely loved it . So now off to today's post Blueberry Pancakes Recipe .

      Blueberry Pancakes Recipe


         Preparation Time : 15 minutes | Cooking Time : 5 minutes
        Recipe Category: Breakfast | Recipe Cuisine: American

       Ingredients:

        To make Pancake Mix :

      • All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
      • Baking powder - 1 1/2 tablespoon
      • Sugar - 1 1/2 tablespoon
      • Salt - 1/2 tsp
      Wet ingredients : 
      • Eggs - 1 number
      • Blueberry - Few of them
      • Vanilla Extract - 1 teaspoon
      • Milk -  1 cup
      • Water - As needed
      To Serve: 
      • Butter
      • Maple Syrup


       Blueberry Pancakes Recipe

       

      Method :

      • Take a large mixing bowl . Add all the dry ingredients and mix . The dry ingredients are All purpose flour , Baking powder , Sugar and salt and mix well . Set aside . ( The ready made pan cake mix could also be used . It is available in the grocery store . )

      • Take the the egg  and Vanilla Extract in a bowl .


      • Add the milk and whisk the contents .


      • Transfer the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients .


      • Add water and mix well to a desired consistency without lumps . Do not beat the contents  Only fold the ingredients .  The batter should be thick and not too thin .  Add the blueberries and mix . 


      • Heat a Griddle . Spread some butter on the griddle . Pour a ladeful of batter on the griddle and allow it to cook till the bubbles are formed .


      • Flip to the other side once the bubbles are seen . Cook on both sides. Serve hot .
       
       

      • Serve the pancakes with Butter and Maple syrup . Done ! Yummy Blueberry Pancakes are ready to be served .

      SUGARCANE JUICE RECIPE | KARUMBU JUICE RECIPE

      Sugar Cane juice ( Karumbu juice )  is my favorite juice since child hood . Sugar cane juice is a common street food in India . I have seen this juice being made using machines , and this recipe is my humble attempt using the blender . Off to Today's post Sugar Cane juice Recipe .

      Preparation Time : 15 minutesServes : 2
      Recipe Category: Juice | Recipe Cuisine: Indian

      Ingredients:

      • Sugar Cane  -2 cups , Skin peeled and  Chopped in to small pieces
      • Water - 1 cup
      • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
      • Ginger piece - 1/2 ' inch , chopped
      • Sugar - To Taste ( Optional )



        Method :

        • Take the Sugar Cane log and break them in to small logs .


        • Peel the skin using a heavy knife . ( They are really hard to peel )


        • Chop them in to small chunks .


        • Transfer the chunks to the blender . Add 1 cup of water , Lemon juice , and chopped ginger and some sugar .


        • Grind them well to a puree for few minutes .



        • Filter the juice using a sieve cloth to remove the husk from the clear juice .


        • Discard the husk . Clear juice is ready . Add some Ice cubes if needed .


        • Sugarcane juice is ready to be served . 


        • Done !! Enjoy 

        Notes :

        • The sugar cane should be chopped in very small pieces and then only it should be blended .
        • Add sugar if needed .
        • To get the sugar cane juice of good concentration blend the extracted juice over and over again and then discard the husk .
